From Headley, cross Mickleham Down in south west direction. Path on OS map leads off at an angle diverging from the obvious open ground which is easier to follow. Just as the path starts to descend towards the trees, the pillar is tucked against the vegetation on the right. No views to the distance in any direction. Probably quite good at one time. Raised S prefix. Third today.

I'm not sure why it's called Mickleham Down - it's very much Mickleham Up! Up an awful lot of makeshift steps if you approach it from the White Hill car park. On reaching the top, don't turn right! I spent an hour's fruitless searching for this one, before discovering it was pretty much straight ahead from the point where the path emerges from the wood. Good condition pillar hidden in a bush.

I parked in the (free) National Trust Whitehill car park on Headley Lane, and thoroughly recommend it: the roads in Mickleham are very narrow, and little room for parking without disturbing residents. From the car park there is a good path all the way - albeit all the steps at the start as others have mentioned. There is a seat just beyond the top of the stairs which used to have a good view, but trees are starting to obscure it now - useful for a rest after the stairs though! The pillar is in good condition at the side of the footpath, but sightlines are totally obscured by nearby 40-foot trees.

Tall trees beyond Photographed from "behind" the pillar, showing nearby forty-foot trees.
