Heading home from a night in Newcastle so thought we'd knock off this easy bag. Pulled up by the field gate and hopped over it into the field. The pillar sits just a few yards into the field. Nice views over the Tyne valley.

Easy trig to bag. Plenty of parking at nearby reservoir. We did a short 3 mile loop through Hyton Woods which was a lovely spot of interest nearby.

Third visit - was visiting a mate in Prudhoe and arrived early so took opportunity to take GPS reading ~~ 16/07/20 My second visit, virtually a roadside TP so same 'route' as before - through the gate, walk S 20 paces...a better day than my first visit, the views N are really extensive.

Took the opportunity of a requirement to drive to the other end of Northumberland to collect a few 'drive-by' trigs en-route to County Durham. Mickley + Dilston + Winnowshill Common + Barley Hill = less than a couple of hundred metres of walking in total. Mickley TP would afford better views north if it was actually a wee bit closer to the road than it is, the layby / gateway where you park up has fantastic views over the Tyne Valley that are a bit lost when you actually walk up to the TP itself.

Done on a 51 mile ride from Morpeth with Maryside TP. It was well worth the effort of riding up from Prudhoe because the views of Simonside, Hedgehope and Cheviot were excellent. I was moved in a different way as I crossed Ovingham bridge and realised that I had left my helmet on top of the pillar.

A roadside trig with some really good views northwards. I work at Prudhoe Hospital, so this is a bit of a local trig. I tied this in with a 5 hour walk attempting to link 3 trigs in this area. Trig in good condition and very accessible.

A "Duke of York" tick - long uphill cycle from Prudhoe only to lose most of the height gained continuing on the lane! However, easy access from lane and good views.
