From Hareshawhead to the east. Lots of work going on for the wind farm extension but fortunately everyone had gone home at the time of my visit otherwise access would have been difficult. The area around the pillar has now been totally cleared and a new access road to turbine 23 running close to the trig is under construction. Removal of the trees gives better views than those enjoyed by previous visitors but is in the middle of a building site.

This is located within a FC forest. After searching around I came upon a tent and after shouting "Is there anyone there" and got no reply I looked inside and there was the trig point. See 'photos!

Moss covered pillar in a small clearing. Bike in from Kype Reservoir and out along an unmapped logging road to Lambshill. Wind farmers about, the masts are up, but no sign yet of the full grown pustules. Some woodland needs crossing from the ride and clear fell to the east, but it is easy "light green" stuff.

Parked by new housing development at Lambhill and headed up track and over fields to north of trig which is still in thick forest despite a lot of nearby tree felling. Discovered new track not shown on explorer lead back much more directly to Lambhill south of trig.

Pillar now located about 40m away from the edge of felled trees in a small clearing. Views to the east from outside the trees shows excellent views especially to the east. FB faces east, all sightholes blocked, cap present with sunken lettering. Moss-covered pillar but seems in good condition. Easy walk in from Lambhill steading.

Visited to record FB number. HISTORY: Pillar completed in December 1945 costing 10.5s.9d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NS77/13 within the Glasgow block during 1947. Levelled for height to Class 1 precision, tertiary standards in 1962. Last maintained by the OS in June 1978. SITE VISIT: Before the days of GPS receivers, armed with map LR71, this trig pillar proved to be a challenge to find in its woodland setting. Located ~150m northwest of track junction, and northeast of true summit. Pillar still in good condition with a healthy moss coverage. Spider retained an OS centre plug. BsM flush bracket faces east. No view due to woods.
