Climbed up the steep route from the path. Headed down the ridge to Drigmorn Hill and descended a more tricky route from there. Very misty but walking not too hard.

An afternoon circular walk from White Laggan that also included Cairngarroch. The wind had picked up considerably during my ascent and up at the top it was a great struggle just to stay on my feet. It would have been proper hard work indeed to get a FB pic if in fact there was one.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 3rd November 1954 costing 65.0s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NX56/18 within the Kickcudbright block in 1958. Levelled for height value at pillar top also in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in June 1985. SITE VISIT: Pillar in good condition Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. All four sight holes open, pillar bolt visible. Spider end perpendicular with NE (41) face. Cloud down, no view.

vgc, metal cap, wide raised letters. Built without FB. Fine steep hill, narrowish ridge, mostly grassy. Biting wind, no place to hang around. 27 mi circuit incl Merrick, Eschoncan & various 500m tops.

Pillar in excellent condition. No FB or space for FB. Spider intact, and made from some dark metal, rather than the usual green stuff. Reached in about an hour & a half from Craigencallie.
