Not the most tranquil of rural trigs, but a nice short walk nevertheless. Parked by the PROW at the quarry and followed the farm track up past the pounding quarry workings up to the point where it subsides and the noise from the M6 prevails. Before too long the pillar comes into view and a short walk up a squelchy field leads to the TUMP top of Summerhouse Hill and our quest of the TP. Very nice views all around, especially south to Morcambe Bay.

Better than we expected. From quarry access road. We bagged the Marilyn across the way then walked up path between quarries. There's an openable gate into the field where the trig is. The summit was actually nice. Much better than we though as it is so close to the quarries. The sheep even came up to us to say hi. Good views of the Lakes and Howgills.

A perfect trig to bag if your on a long car journey and need to stretch your legs. Leave M6 at jct 37 and head towards Kendal. The quarry works are on your left and signed. You can use the quarry road and park opposite the PRoW. A rather ordinary pillar but with majestic views of the Howgills, Middleton Fell, Lake District and Morcambe Bay. a short walk from the road (approx 1km each way) interesting to note that the sheep will follow you around, expecting a feed I guess!

My last of five for the day,on a nice day this would be a easy stroll up from the quarry along a well made track as you can see from my pic it was not a nice day I was soaked to the skin as I had to fight my way up against wind and driving rain,The wife says I´m daft, I agree.

Pleasant walk up from the quarry, which is now bigger than on the map. Intact with very good views of the Dales and Kent Estuary.
