Revisited following Griefmiester's report. Foundations of trig moved a few yards from original location: upper centre mark with wooden surround, remains of sighting holes and base of angle irons. Concrete down to the position of the lower centre mark but the rest of the pillar is missing, presumed demolished. Not clear why they bothered to keep this part but it would have been non-trivial to excavate. In Trigonomy, JWR records the trig as S4080, destroyed by OS Oct 1998. Revisited 27 Sep 2009 - passing by so checked just in case further remains but nothing else found.

The pillar was close up against the wall of a building in the car park of a sports club on Standbridge Lane. Photographing the FB plate was a bit tricky because of the proximity of a heavy cast iron contraption - probably a barbecue grill. It appears that I was fortunate to have visited and photographed it in March 1998 because a later report says Destroyed by O.S. Oct 1998. See also later log by peregrinus 01 Jun 2007.
