A hill I have waited a long time to bag, I've bagged pretty much every Trig around this one so it has been a big blank spot on my Trig Map. Today's weather forecast suggested the wait was over, and occasional Trigging companion Simon had been told to bugger off for the day by his partner who wanted to watch the Wimbledon Ladies Final undisturbed. Perfect circumstances and a cracking wee hill. My 800th Trig Point bagged overall, and my 700th Trig logged on here as 'NJM'.

Parking and route as many other people. From layby opposite the gate and style up to Minto.

Parked at Minto Golf Course and walked up path through Minto Glen on eastern side of course, this can get quite muddy. From the saddle between the hills I contoured round the north western side to climb up by quad bike track from the SW which is less steep. Pleasant hill top with good views and a handy bench next to the trig to sit and admire them from.

From dirt layby (NT 5638 2086). Pillar suffering from erosion at the base; LHS and rear sight holes open; centre cap gone, asphalt plug replaces. Extensive views. Dusk, poor photos.

Parked at convenient layby nt563208.Sign post indicates route across a field full of sheep, today, then take your choice as to approach this lovely pillar. Fantastic panoramic views, include Cheviot to the south and Eildon to the north.The trig is pristine and some good person has even provided seating views. A wonderful late afternoon walk at the onset of Autumn.

Circular walk from Minto village taking in Fatlips Castle. approach to trig was from Clockerhill. Managed to reach summit just before it rained.

Parking to the north east at the end of the mapped track. A stiff climb up but worth it for the gorgeous views in all directions. Save this one for a nice day.

Followed the signposted Minto Hills footpath from the edge of the golf course. Great views but the weather closed in whilst at the top so cut the visit short. Will come back again on a better day. Pillar painted in what appears to be an off-white magnolia.

Via path starting to NE to claim both Minto Hills as the smaller one is a P30. Saw 3 lovely horses near the summit trig before I disturbed them.

Second visit. For GPS measurement and photographs. SITE VISIT: Grazing top. Absolutely fantastic! This pillar which is adopted had just been given a fresh coat of paint and is a credit to whoever is looking after it. Pillar in excellent condition. Spider centre plugged with asphalt. Flush bracket faces NNE. Vented through SE & SW sight holes. Breathtaking 360° panorama, views include Three Brethren, Greenhill, Eildon Mid Hill, Black Hill NT72, Dirrington Great Law, Peniel Heugh, Cheviot, Carter Bar, Rubers Law, Pike Fell, Greatmoor Hill, Penchrise Pen and Skelfhill Pen.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 7th August 1953 costing £21.0s.6d. Flush bracket S7495 was levelled for height in 1956. This marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT72/21 in the Jedburgh block in 1957 and was last maintained by the OS in March 1986. The OS archive incorrectly shows the FB as S7595.
