Nice hill but we were in mist at the top. Walked up from the pub carpark to the north. Pub still shut but we spoke to a workman there who is working on a refurb.

Parked in pub car park on A494. Followed ODP traversing the western side of Moel Gyw and then took signed path approaching the summit from the South. Great views in good weather made the climb well worthwhile. Descended to the north down steep grassy slope to the left of the moorland with no obvious path then branched left to rejoin the ODP.

Parked at pub car park on A494, pub did not look open anymore. Made way along Offa’s Dyke Path...should have stayed on this and headed to the south of the trig...instead, we made a rather difficult accent up the north side!! Anyway, we made it...lovely views from the top. Took the South route back down of course!

Parked in a lay-by on the A494. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from there along Offa's Dyke Path. Then took the path that runs north west from the PRoW at SJ 17055 57021, and then took a path which is not marked on OS Maps from SJ 17008 57106 straight up to the pillar at the summit. The plug is missing from the spider. Superb views at the top

Missing cap and plug and there is some slight substrate erosion at the bottom of one side near the base. Followed a circular route anti-clockwise from Llanarmon-yn-lal. Easy hike up. Amazing 360 panorama with Moel Fammau in the backdrop.

Two 6 mile walks, first one taking in Moel Famau trig (again), Foel Fenlli and Moel Eithinen, second one taking in Moel Y Plas, Moel Gyw trig, Moel Llanfair and Moel Y Waun trig, 12.5 miles together, cloudy/showery/sunny, great views.

ODP#17: beautiful sunny evening, so left the Old Man to carry onto the Clwyd Gate Inn (which turned out to be closed and up for sale so no beer for him!). Quick and easy diversion up from the ODP to find a pillar with stunning views, including the other Clwydian hills, the coast and Snowdonia. All s/holes and centre open, but rest of pillar in vgc.

3rd of 4 today. Parked in pub car park to the NW on the A494 and followed the road opposite down towards some farm buildings, then the ROW up to the west of the hill, where you pick up a path to the summit. Back again only this time stayed on the path and found the good track which leads to the summit.Great views here also walked out to the marilyn summit as well trig in vgc great light today.

Circular walk from Llanarmon yn Ial-Moel Gyw- Moel Llanfair-Moel y Plas on overcast and somewhat hazy day.Would be grand views from all three on a clear day.Am beginning to like this area more and more.

Came up from Ruthin on the bridleway through Bathafarn Farm. Cloud had closed in all around by the time that I reached the top. Continued south to Moel-Y-Waen trig pillar.

Good walk up from Llanarmon-yn-lal Chapel, then down opposite side and back along track to pick up Offa's path at 4 finger post to head towards and over Moel Plas and back aroud to Llanarmon and the truck.Weather not bad at times but nasty showers at times.

Visited from Offa's Dyke - definitely use easy path up from south. Arrived just before the rain but no view to the west. Visited again on 23rd September looking for my altimeter. No luck but weather much better with good views to the East.

Parked at hotel to the N then follow Offas Path. Took wrong choice and opted for gung ho straight up approach through heather.....when will I learn! Please dont do this ,go around ! Is knee high and bloody hard work! Pillar...when you get there is good with stunning 360 views. Returned a different way!Just read Father Teds log.....great minds think alike !

From from Llandegla via Moel y Waun to get here. Path up from Gerreg Lwyd from south. Re visited 26/09/2020 on walk out from Ruthin. Ascended from Garreg Lwyd & descended WNW from sumit to rejoin Offa's Dyke Path which is more difficult than it looks due to no path and deep heather and bilberries.

Appraoched on Offa's Dyke from the west. I was using a pretty old map without the path marked and I cut off the path too soon and yomped up through the knee deep steep heather only to realise at the top that there was a good track leading up from Offa's Dyke.

Great views, mixed weather; looking north west bright sunshine, but south west pouring with rain and low lying black cloud. Wish I'd brough a scythe, the heather was a nightmare :)

It's been liberated! The Box has gone, leaving the pillar somewhat rust-covered with a couple of rusty bolts set into the top surface, and no cap or plug, but otherwise unscathed.

I wouldn't really say it was next to a TV aerial as much as under one that's knackered. FB sandwiched between trig and cage.

Trig has an aerial attached to the top, with wires through the base to a generator of some kind set right against the pillar. Had to get the number by 'feeling' the letters on the plate! Public
