Had been trying to find an elusive multi-stage geocache and noticed I would pass this TP on route back ... however, it was not easy to access the TP due to the dense conifer plantation. Initially tried the closest direct route but a barbed wire fence stopped that approach, so worked my way back to a public footpath across the plantation via a field gate. Walked a long way trying to find a chink in the trees, but it was not quick or straight forward. No views once at the TP, or at least nothing interesting since it consisted of just trees! Great views on the walk to and from the area though.

Awkward trig to get to due to state of the forest, either young conifers impossible to breach, or the old, partially felled conifer plantation with it's treacherously uneven and boggy ground. Parked up at the forest car park E, good forest vehicle tracks until 400m from trig, then a plunge through the forest fortunately on an old track NE of trig, and exiting forest on another old track heading due W from trig. Pillar is covered with moss but otherwise in good condition; no cap or plug; 1 sight hole open. Surrounded by conifers, no views.

Approached from margam park end and found the forestry I needed but finding a way in proved a little more difficult as there did not seam to be a path in and trees where too close together to get through eventually while following the fence line found a gate and what looked like a 4x4 track going in managed to follow this track all the way to trig

I'm just glad I had a GPS with me for this one. Came in from the west through 300m of growing and felled trees. Saw some deer. Trig lies on a triack that headed out north. As we intersected another path we saw a gent in a posh coat dissapearing off to the left. That's weird - it's the middle of nowhere. Batteled through trees till we got to the path we wanted to be on for Mynydd Machen.

Parked up in the forestry car park about 1km east of the trig point. Walk started out on gravel paths but towards the end degenerated into a slog through recently felled forestry and finally via an exceedingly rotten area of forestry before finally reaching the small grassy area where the trig point stands. Not much of a view any more...

Tough one to find even with a GPS. After going round in circles, I found it by getting a good bearing with a GPS and then following that bearing with a compass. Did not bother to get a location because of treecover.

This one took a bit of finding but it is still there. Half the forest has been cut down so head up to the highest point of this. There's a discernible glade in the remaining forest heading roughly South East and the trig is along here about a hundred yards on the right hand side. It's partly hidden by a tree and just below the highest point, hence our difficulty finding it (Shane succeeded in the end though!). Plug with heavily indented lettering.
