Good roadside verge parking (NT 8841 3454). Farm track then field margins. Last field is a sheep pasture so straight across that one. Pillar sits close to dry-stone walling, on SE side. Original centre cap retained, deeply indented lettering; rear sight hole open. Extensive views, particularly to N.

Second visit for pictures. Parked by the holiday cottage and walked up to the wood via the footpath. Just inside the wood there is a metal gate, hop that and walk along the field boundary to gate at NT878 345. Walk round the field boundary to NT876 346 where there is another gate into the field where the trig is located. Excellent 360 views.

FP from cottage to SE very overgrown. Returned via marked (but not right of way) path to E of public FP. However, field margin after wood overgrown and a struggle. There is a gate leading to a track W at NT881350 and this leads to pasture with inquisitive horses and mad cattle. There is a gate at NT875348 into the trig field.

Some reports for this TP below only rate it as a '5' - they obviously didn't visit the hill on as glorious as day as we did! Stunning 360 views, a pleasant stroll up from Barley Hill Cottage - this was our 7th and final TP of the day before having to return home for a late afternoon shift at work. But what a wonderful way to finish our day's bagging!
