A stream of cyclists of different fitness levels all riding with the same idea. Time to visit this pillar in passing. No footpath sign at roadside, so asked at houses to west of farm. pointed to gap in stone wall by drive, but easier to walk up through house grounds. Pillar incorporated in wall.

Managed this one during my lunch hour as it is the nearest one to my workplace. Took a little finding though as the public footpaths look as though they hardly get used but is in fact just a few hundred yards off the very busy A59. Trig in very good condition with original plug intact, but is now cunningly disguised as part of a dry stone wall which the farmer must have built, and is adorned with a barbed wire necklace. Fortunately the flush bracket faces into the open field next to the ROW. East and West sight holes open but impossible to check the other two as they are against the dry stone wall.

Very nice area, but I am glad that 2 dogs in one of the farm houses in West Lane confined their defensive stance to their own side of the property wall !

I approached from A59, thru' farm yard, via track which is a PROW. The farmer has totally blocked this with a huge number of large black plastic covered bales, making progrees very difficult (and impossible in summer), thru' brambles and nettles. Best to avoid this and take the private drive to west which leads to the PROW via a stile on right, just before house and into their vegetable garden. Follow wall on right to emerge into field. Thanks for the pics. - would never have found it otherwise.
