Saw it shortly after leaving TP2968. Plenty gates to allow access without climbing fences we discovered after the dog tackled some barbed wire... Growing out of its roots, great spot.

Prominent on the hill directly ahead as you enter Woodingdean from Falmer. Climbed from car park on right of main road. Great views. Partially undercut, could be eroded land around base. Sunny December morning. First of five of the day.

Parked TQ 3582 0411, RoW due N, then WSW following a field boundary not shown on my 25k map. Pillar sits out on fallow downland retaining an original centre cap, lightly indented lettering; rear sight hole open; badly chipped top edges. Extensive panorama of rolling downland.

P124. Followed RoW across golf course then cut across remainder of golf course and a field to another RoW and then followed these to trig. Nicely painted bright white so I could see it from her golf course trig.

From East Brighton Golf Course its a nice walk along the path to this one, although there is a fairly steep climb to the top. Still misty up here, and the trig has obviousle been re painted again. All in tact and in good condition.

Located in the middle of field. at the time of my visit the crop had been harvested so no problem walking across from the bridleway that runs along side. Pillar is in good condition, and has recently had a fresh coat of piant, possibly to aid the farmer when harvesting the field.

Nice location, seems to be populare with dog walkers on the briddle way. Had to look for a break in the fence to get into the correct feild and then had to follow the tire marks in the crops to get to the trig. In good condiction
