Pillar markedly undercut at the base. Cap in situ, good condition. Pillar in field behind gate on the foredown road. To the right of the gate is a style that gets you into the field, it’s somewhat hidden by undergrowth.

Parked on Langridge Drive. Then took the public right of way (PRoW) from Fox Way, which runs along Foredown Road and over the A27, and then up the summit of Mount Zion. The pillar is in a field to the right of the PRoW, so needed to climb over the gate into the field. There were some cattle in the field, but they ignored me. 2 of 7 today in and around Brighton & Hove

Access from Mile Oak, footpath underneath the A27 then up onto a lane, Foredown Road, heading north west. After about five hundred metres, pillar is on the other side of a gate in a field. Fairly good views towards Brighton. Visited before work on a December morning so located in the dark.

Parked on Thornhill Rise to SW; underpass RoW leads out to arable land. Pillar sits just inside a pasture to E side of bridleway. Original cap is retained, lightly indented lettering; rear sight hole closed, other 3 open. Fine downland views to N, W & E.

Parked at Foredown Road for a short walk up the Monarchs Way to the trigpoint. Did a geocache whilst visiting here and then activated the Trigpoint for the WAB net. 7.160 Mhz. Very cold and windy today.

I parked at the road end to the west near Mile Oak Farm (and was able to visit Thunders Barrow from there too). Then walked up a series of paths to easily reach and access the pillar by means of a stile. Foudations somewhat exposed but otherwise in very good condition and still retains an original intered lettered plug. Another good view point.

At last, trig 3 for today. Came straight down the steep hill fromt Thuders Barrow, past the farm with a tea shop, and followed the sussex boundry path, easy to follow, well marked (most of the way). Good condition, cap in place. Carried on along the Sussex border path to do a loop, back to the farm shop, had a great cup of tea and cake, well worth the stop. 10 mile loop today.

Located in the corner of a field, a few feet from bridle way, pillar is in good condition, but is very erroded around the base, looks like the cows like to have a scatch on it. Good views to Brighton and coast.

Had to 'negotiate' a five bar gate to reach this T/P as it's situated in the corner of a pasture. The ground is well eroded around the base but other than that, it's in good gondition with all it's metalwork in place. Reasonable views.

Situated in a field just off a pathway leading over the South Downs. Great views all round, although it was a little hazy in the distance. The pillar is located about a mile from Foredown Tower, which is an observation point built into an old hospital water tower. As well as an exhibition about rain and water supplies, there is a working camera obscura which is worth the visit alone. Make sure you pick a clear day, though.
