Have came along the farm road many times before hoping to cache the farmer and ask for permission and today was finally the day. He was happy to let me wander down to the trig so went off for a look. After hugging the field edge and crouching under a wire (wasn't sure if electrified or not) whilst passing through a gate I was soon at the trig. Cracking views from here on a very blustery day and a fair racket from geese nearby. Glad to finally tick this one off.

Log #44. Initially approached from the NE, but no-one was in at the farmhouse. Decided to try from the SW instead. Parked at Upper Muckovie farm, had a look around the buildings for someone to ask, but couldn't find anyone. The trig itself was easy to find, didn't need to go over any fences. Good condition, and looks a little short, or am I imagining things? As I was leaving, I saw the farmer, who gave me a bemused look as I pulled away. [ExP-44/MiP-0/BM-0]

Second visit. For photographs and GPS reading. Approached from northeast. Parked in track entrance beside reservoir at NH716440. Followed track then field boundary lines as much as possible but taking a longer route via NH714433 due to dense undergrowth east of the trig area. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces NE, ~51. Vented through NW sight hole. 90 panorama with long views from west to north, remaining skyline either overtopped with vegetation or higher ground. Electric fences still live but checked with my test gear rather than my hand this time.

Clochandighter's electric fence is still there, but the extremely friendly farmer showed me the right path to follow avoiding it. Trust me to pick the muddiest day of the year to visit this trig though!
