Good views down to the reservoir. Parked at the Mugdock car park close by, then saw some protection attached to barbed wire so went over that and followed a wee trail up to the trig. Then noticed there was a geocache close by and it was at the old tower. Interesting old structure.

Interesting spot. The rain came on as we arrived at the trigpoint, which gave for some quite spectacular views looking South to the Clyde Valley. Interesting tower pretty much due West from the trigpoint (marked on the 1 to 25:000 OS). Apparently this was known as "Smith's Folly" and was until a few decades ago much taller than the ruin that is there today. Be great if someone could find a photo.

Vgc pillar on terraced platform overlooking Glasgow and environs. FB facing N-ish, E-ish sighthole open only. Spider intact and cap with sunken lettering in place. Phenomenal views towards Glasgow today with everything shimmering in a snowy blue. Good view towards Dumgoyne and the Campsies too, also looking very pretty in the snow. Nice horses, no problems with GOMLs although parked at Drumclog car park and walked up the hill.

Vented through east sight hole. Welcome to Mugdock by Milngavie. Surrounding area stinks of wealth, and the natives clearly discourage on street parking on public verges with their painted boulders. The woman who feeds the horses exclaimed that she pays rent for the ground outside the east field gate where we had eventually found somewhere safe to park.

Trig 6 of 12 for the day. Anti-clockwise walking route starting and finishing at Glasgow Queen Street station. Original visit to record FB number. The pillar was completed in Febuary 1946 costing 4.14s.5d. In 1947 this marker was computed as tertiary station NS77/T96 in the Glasgow secondary block. The flush bracket was for height in 1970. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1971. One of the nicer locations around here. Horse field.
