After running from the Campsie hills, I followed the road to this one. Came into the field from Mugdock village. Horses in the field. Trig sits in the middle of the field. Closer views of Glasgow from this one. Is it an urban trig? Didn't feel so, yet so close to the city.

I parked in Mugdock village and reached the trig by walking through a gate and across the field it sits in. There were no horses or cattle there but a big hay bale indicated this field may not normally be empty. The trig is in good condition but most of the paint has gone. There are fantastic views to the north and south.

Easy short stroll over fields from carpark east.Bit of fence jumping required. Short stroll to FBM but very muddy after ground work by farm - don't wear trainers.

Approached from gate opposite triangular road junction. Very muddy at gate and approach to pillar. Pillar in good nick, no cap/plug, BSM type FB, one sight hole open but plugged with a bung! Great views from here.

Found whilst geocaching in the area. Looked for the FBM first then a quick nip over the gate and up to the trigpoint. Eventually found FBM on the way back and wondered how I had managed to miss it on the way!

Log #257. Parked in the East Car Park (to north, oddly), and walked up to trig via the two air shafts. Pillar is in a sheep pasture, but is easily accessible. Good condition, and headed back to car via tower ruins. [ExP-191/MiP-10/Rev-2/BM-15/IS-30/Other-9]

Good views down to the reservoir. Parked at the Mugdock car park close by, then saw some protection attached to barbed wire so went over that and followed a wee trail up to the trig. Then noticed there was a geocache close by and it was at the old tower. Interesting old structure.

Interesting spot. The rain came on as we arrived at the trigpoint, which gave for some quite spectacular views looking South to the Clyde Valley. Interesting tower pretty much due West from the trigpoint (marked on the 1 to 25:000 OS). Apparently this was known as "Smith's Folly" and was until a few decades ago much taller than the ruin that is there today. Be great if someone could find a photo.

Walked around the reservoirs first and then made a flying visit to the trig, accessing it from the nearby gate off the lane. The views were good north to the Campsie Fells, where I was headed next.

Vgc pillar on terraced platform overlooking Glasgow and environs. FB facing N-ish, E-ish sighthole open only. Spider intact and cap with sunken lettering in place. Phenomenal views towards Glasgow today with everything shimmering in a snowy blue. Good view towards Dumgoyne and the Campsies too, also looking very pretty in the snow. Nice horses, no problems with GOMLs although parked at Drumclog car park and walked up the hill.

Third visit. For GPS reading and photographs. Horse pasture. Pillar in good condition. The replacement spider cap has deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces 346° NNW. Vented through east sight hole. Welcome to Mugdock by Milngavie. Surrounding area stinks of wealth, and the natives clearly discourage on street parking on public verges with their painted boulders. The woman who feeds the horses exclaimed that she pays rent for the ground outside the east field gate where we had eventually found somewhere safe to park.

No horses on this visit, but much evidence of their presence. Very muddy field entrance and heavily gouged ground. BSM style FB and intact spider. Great views across to the Campsie Fells; Dumgoyne and Dumfoyn and the long craggy face of Black Craig.

This is one of the five Trigs around Mugdock Country Park, easy to visit them in a few hours. Walked up from South Car Park. Few horses in the field but not near pillar. Took our pictures without disturbing them.

Worst weather of the day - cold, wet and windy, so I didn't stay long. A horsey field with views - I bet it's nice in the Summer, which is why the wealthy have bought (and are building) up here.

BSM type intact. Overlooks the reservoirs and Glasgow, not far from the Milngavie FBM. This is high density trigging. Field full of horses, 747 landing at Abbotsinch.. Take it that the big houses have double glazing.

First visit. To record FB number. HISTORY: The pillar was built in Febuary 1946 costing £4.14s.5d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NS77/T96 within the Glasgow secondary block during 1947. The flush bracket was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in 1970. This pillar station was last maintained by the OS in October 1971. SITE VISIT One of the nicer locations around here but populated with pretentious natives trying to talk posh through west coast accents. Horse field. Trig 6 of 12 for the day. Anti-clockwise walking route starting and finishing at Glasgow Queen Street station.
