On holiday on Islay. Spectacular views from here. Parked at the RSPB car park and walked up, some boggy areas due to the heavy rain but mostly a great path. Well worth a visit

Seventh Islay Trig. On visit to American Monument. Parked at car park and quick walk along the RSPB route. Easy access over walkway set into boggy ground. Didn’t see an eagle, but the views from the cliff top was spectacular. Trig in excellent condition with all parts intact.

With coinea and Clochandighter. Approached from northeast. Public car park at NR281422. Followed mapped tracks and paths which lead to the monument and the trig pillar. Open grazing land at cliff top. Column in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces northwest, compass measurement 335°. Continued on foot to Upper Killeyan Farm to approach the neighbouring pillar on Beinn Mhor.

Quite a shame that it was all misted in today as this is one of those iconic locations I've been looking forward to visiting at some point for a good many years. Still an enjoyabl walk to Beinn Mhor and here in reasonable enough conditions which could have easily been a lot worse.

Good condition pillar near cliff edges. FB faces N-ish with E-ish sighthole open only. Cap present with raised lettering. Incredible 360 views. Northern Ireland clearly visible. Walked up from the RSBP parking to the NE. Reasonable underfoot with duckboards helpfully covering the worst sections.

Very windy on the day of the visit but amazing location with the monument a poignant reminder of the tragic loss of life. Approach from the RSPB carpark was boggy due to recent weather, thankfully duckboards covered the worst

Short walk across boggy ground from RSPB car park. Some boarded walkways installed at worst sections so not too bad. Trig dwarfed by nearby American Monument (intersected station). Pillar in good condition (not sure why some loggers have deemed it slightly damaged). Original cap in place, raised lettering; 1 sight hole open. Extensive 360deg views, including across North Channel to Ireland.

Right on the Mull of Oa after a circular walk around the RSPB's Oa reserve, with great views of seals and wild goats on the rocks below the path, choughs on fenchposts and plenty of livestock! Stunning views across to Ireland on a clear day, too.

Visibility not fantastic, but could see Mull of Kintyre (and lighthouse), Antrim, Rathlin (and two lighthouses), Lough Foyle, Inishowen, but not the lighthouse at Dunagree Point.

Very boggy circular walk to large American memorial to those lost in two troop ship sinkings in WW1. Pillar seems to have been battered by wind and rain and so were we. Sheltered behind the Memorial for 20 mins and wind was so strong that we were dry at that point. On top of stunning cliffs with crashing waves below - well worth the wet and windy walk

What a day! As the photograph shows, visibility was very poor. Had hoped to see Choughs and maybe even a Golden Eagle, but had difficulty seeing anything. It appeared to be in good condition, but as it started to rain hard as we arrived, did'nt stay too long.

An easy, short walk to monument with amazing views across to Northern Ireland. Have been several times. Last visit was nearly knocked off my feet by enormous wolfhound!
