I also approached from the sharp bend in the road to the SSW over some fields and then up the forest track. It feels pretty isolated here in the small clearing.

From a corner on S side of wood 250m of grim tree fighting following GPS to trig on way in. Then a 5 min easy amble on way back when we found the path. Never mind, the FB number was 2 to the power 11 as my nerdy colleague pointed out, which made it all worthwhile.

Good trig! Long, but interesting trek to get there.. parked the car on the same sharp corner as Mick and Shane mentioned... walked through farmland, common land, Motorcross tracks, forest, etc! As I reached the pillar, the weather turned really bad.. fog and rain everywhere.. luckily my camera survived! As I walked back, visibility was really poor, roughly 100 metres... I couldn't see the tall mast nearby anyway! As I headed down the road, I saw two guys walking towards the Golf Course... no idea what they were doing out in that weather! It was my intention to go to the Neath Golf Course and Cefn-Y-Don trigs.. but rain told me to head back home...

We took the little yellow road from Bryn-coch that goes up past Gilfach Quarry. We parked on the sharp corner (spot height 229) and headed up from there. Just before you reach the wooded bit there was a large temporary mast on the right erected by Western Windpower which had anenometers attached to it. Presumably they're considering putting a wind farm up here if the winds are viable - another blight on the landscape. The track up the side of the wood swings to the right and then heads up into the wood, and the trig is in a bit of a clearing on the left. Tarmac plug.
