Revisit after the Aux BB. All intact although concrete damaged around the FB and spider. Interesting that it was Destroyed and Refixed in 1988, this just means they re-established the coordinates. They didn't Refix the Aux though, maybe couldn't find it (buried block) :-) Still there though. Accessed both trigs easily via forest road to N, parked to NW

Base is badly worn and chunks are laying around on the floor nearby! A sight hole open. Flush bracket and spider in place but plug cap missing.

Easiest way is along the fire break starting at SS 9469 9392 (burned out 4x4), then along a well defined path through the conifers starting SS 9496 9402. Ah well, at least I came out that way. Pillar is badly damaged, looks like the frost has got to its lower section and damage to top leaves one spider arm end exposed; top cap missing, no plug; rear sight hole open. Had read the previous logs for this but still struggled. If you head up the main track and turn right (SS 94564 94124) along the edge of the forest you will come to a fire break on the left (SS 94698 93939). Take this track and keep going until you see a small track off to the left (SS 94959 94033), it leads straight to the trig point. It's like a Narnia path with the trig shining at the end, just perfect! Trig is damaged and a tad crumbly in places.

#313 P#229 P2016#29. Walked up from the road following the main track. At junction, ventured left to the unseen gate. Went through gate and took immediate track to right. Turned into a pond at one point but barbs had been removed from the fence, much to MRS TJRs relief. Then back over and followed a track to left by another new pond in the track. Then we spotted the wee secret path to Narnia for trigs. Looked very pretty in the snow in the clearing.

In a very pleasant little clearing in the woods. Easy access from the SW on the wide forest path and then into the trees to find the 'secret' path. The pile of stones had gone so I reinstated it where you need to pop into the the trees. I also notice that someone had placed small sticks stuck in the ground there too. Apparently William Meyrick was a cricketer born in Merthyr Tydfil.

This wins my prize for the most difficult trig to find to date - partly due to my incompotence. I parked the car at the top of the pass between Treorchy and Nant-y-Moel and walked up the track where the hang gliders and model aeroplances were being launched. Here I turned left up the hill and through the green barrier onto the forest track. My GPS indicated the trig was now 200 meters to the right into the dense fir tree forest. I searched unsucessfully for a break in the trees so started to head on hands and knees into the trees. Some 20 minutes later when I hit a break and took another GPS reading I was still over 100 meters away. I felt like a hamster in a maze going round in circles. I recalled mickandshane writing it was hard to find but this was ridiculous however I was not going to give up now. Every time I hit a break I took another reading and redirected myself before crawling a bit further. You can imagine my surprise when I eventually found it and it had a bird feeder on it and a path out the other side of the small clearing. Trig showing signs of damage near the bottom. About 20 meters along the path there is a major forest track. I had obviously chosen the wrong track to head off into the forest. For those hunting in furture take the same route I did up the mountain but head south to the second West to East forest track. The path may be hard to find but is between two posts and heads north.
