Excellent viewpoint. This trig has its own public right of way. However, you're made to feel slightly unwelcome. Firstly there's a heavy gate across the start of the path. This is almost immediately followed by two large "Private" signs (the ROW veers to the left here). Finally, 20ft short of the trig is a notice stating "End of public footpath, return the way you came".
