Wasn't sure where to park for this one but settled on The Ship in Freckleton. From there we followed the Lancashire Coastal Path alongside a creek (Freckleton Pool). The path went through one thriving boat building yard and past another, which was interesting, before we were coralled into a very muddy section around somebody's private field. Eventually we emerged on the bank of the River Ribble and the pillar. What a peaceful place it was. Opposite the confluence with the River Douglas, the sun dipping in the sky and waterfowl heading in for the night, all set a scene that felt a long way from the mess that is Preston a few miles up river

Walking the Lancashire coastal Way between St Annes on Sea and Freckleton. approached via the south side of Warton Airfield and foreshore which is not recommended due to the amount of washed up rubbish.

Lovely. Found it near to Warton Aerodrome. The view from the trig point is great (IMHO), as you can see the foothills of the Pennines, the plain towards Southport/Liverpool, and of course, the River Ribble. It is very flat, and access was very easy using designated footpaths. There are even benches next to the pillar!

A fairly high score despite the trig being so accessible. Liked the seats nearby and the view over the sea and Ribble.
