After coffee and cake at Kirkby Stephen and a visit to the rather fine independent book shop (nice change to Waterstones), dodging the wintry rain to Smardale and a long gorgeous ramble over to Nettle Hill - some glorious apocalyptic looking showers moving in round the Howgills to Nine Standards and Wild Boar - weather doing what it so often does - the lower commons stay sunny. Superb murmuration just near Sunbiggin Tarn to top it all off.
