Location all right, but access hell from the south at present, which is where the nearest footpath is, due to close planted field of broad beans and nasty hawthorn hedge. Best from the north via entrance to Larchfield, which is way I retreated. Not much going for it.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 19th December 1947 costing 5.13s.6d. Computed as tertiary station NZ42/T46 in 1948. Levelled for height in 1959. Last maintained by the OS in March 1981. SITE VISIT: Approached from southeast. Parked in short section of old road where sharp bend has been bypassed at NZ507131. Followed RoW along south side of first field then headed north along west side of boundary to junction of next fields and over to field to NW. Pillar in south east corner of field, good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces west, ~265. Vented through east sight hole. Outlook limited by boundary foliage.

A joint visit with Carole. had a bit of difficulty getting to this one as we initially set off down the farm track. Eventually found a stile off the unused old bit of road that got us into the field which the footpath goes through. Crossed the field to the pillar which is in fact on the other side of the fence. Pillar in good condition and still retains an original plug. [Like others we parked in the Nursery car park - very busy on a Sunday afternoon so didn't stand out.]

Take care with navigating - as Wrose says - follow old unused road that runs parallel to B6135, to find stile into field. Inaccessible form footpath to S.

Lost in a hedge which is a field boundary. It's 20 meters to the left of the water trough in the first field for those who like me missed it first time I walked along the path. Pigs now in the next field down. Like others parked in the garden centre.

My first trig outing without Bergfuehrer. Pleased i found the pillar, but given the pouring rain and thick fog it wasn't very easy! Only 5 minutes walk from the garden centre car park, so worth a quick trip.

Parked in the nearby garden center . There is a sterdy barbed wire fence between the trig and the footpath but no gign of pigs, only a large fire burning the trimmings from the severe hedge trimming exercise the farmer was undertaking.
