'Paid-visit' en-route to Bickerton Hill to 'knock-off' another portion of The Sandstone Trail & in particular Mad Allen's Hole...Parked off-road at GR 48946 60121 having first driven past this entrance to take a left to seek permission to access. Granted access from Richard, it was a case of over a coupl'a gates & a single-strand wire fence to the trig 'held ransom' by a moat in the middle of the field. Richard attempted to show me an OS benchmark about the house but forgot where it was...Forgetful perhaps (ain't we all as the years pass by) but nonetheless a most pleasant chap!

Parked on Newton Lane. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from Tattenhall Road to the point where it is immediately adjacent to the railway line. Then turned left, and walked along the line of the fence to the point immediately north of the pillar. Then climbed over a wooden fence into the field immediately behind the one in which the pillar is located, and then climbed over a gate into the field where the pillar is. Were several electric fences to crawl under along the way.
