I embarked on what turned out to be an absolutely wonderful ten miles from Kirkby Malham and headed south via Orms Gill Green to the junction of rough metalled lanes. I crossed the (locked) field gate into the CROW trig field, and headed uphill. There were signs everywhere of cattle, but there were none in the field or on the hill top. The pillar soon came into view and commands sensational views in all directions, especially south to Pendle Hill. The trig is in a bit of a rough way sadly, with exposed footings, a chunk missing and heavy weathering, but at least it has a full set of metalwork. I returned the same way and headed north for Rye Loaf.
