A short drive off the M6 to the village of Scorton for a short circular walk to Nicky Nook. It must be a very popular hill to visit since since a well constructed path takes you to the pillar and down to the reservoirs/woods. A cafe and parking pulls the punters in. At the pillar gaze east and the wonderful Forest of Bowland lies before you. Anyone from Staffs or Derbyshire will know what oatcakes are, after stocking up on my last visit to Staffs, I discover Booths sell them in all stores in Cumbria. NN is gifted to the divine oatcake..prefer Derbyshire myself, but beggar's can't be choosers.

Fairly easy walk up to the summit from a lane side parking at (53°56'4.01"N 2°44'44.43"W). Also near the summit and visible to the right as one walks up is the monument to celebrate Jubilees of Queens Victoria and Elizabeth ( 53°55'49.80"N 2°44'29.02"W). Also there are two stone columns that mark the underground route of the Thirlmere Aqueduct. (53°55'48.96"N 2°43'45.39"W), ( 53°55'54.86"N 2°43'37.40"W). There appears to be a third one, but it looks a long walk away from the other two (53°55'43.09"N 2°44'36.57"W). 360 degree views all the way round the trig.

Nice spot, popular. Came across from the east after walking over Holme Wood Hill. Pillar looks quite smart with a reasonably fresh coat of white paint; foundations becoming exposed through erosion and some chipping to top edges. Top cap missing, composite disc seals centre tube; front sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Extensive panoramic views.

Easy 1.2 mile bag from parking space NW at The Kennels, good path to popular summit, good views but slight haze stopped us from making much of the Lake District out from the summit, hot and sunny. Earlier that day re-bagged Wards Stones trigs and bagged Wolfhole Crag trig, afterwards drove round to Lancaster FBM and Ashton Memorial.

Lovely walk up this on excellent paths which are under repair at the moment from the Scorton direction past the tarns. Great views and loved the rose on the trig point. Collected a few geocaches on the way down.

All those familiar M6 views as well as the hill ranges from Winter Hill to Black Coombe and beyond. Woods below are beautiful. Nice rose. Back via footpath which runs through farm - please note farmer incorrectly says this is closed however keep your dog on a lead!

This was my first visit back to my favorite trig since I discovered the Trigpointing website.I originally found Nickey Nook on my first planned walk aged 13 Looking down on the world (or at least the M6) with the sun shining and the skylarks singing. What I fell in love with that day set me on a course of a lifetime of hill walking and.poring over maps to explore hidden corners and remote peaks all over the globe.So thanks Nickey Nook for being my 'Orrest Head' (acknowledgements to Wainwright) . I've been back here lots and lots of times and never tire of its magic- it has to be a 10. A few years later I found out a friend's grandad ,Thomas Yates, Scorton born and bred, was responsible for building this pillar.

Walked up the easy way from the road. Path has had lots of work done on it so hardly any mud. Very windy days but could see for miles, Blackpool Tower, and the neuclear power station. Came down to go to the famous Apple Store Cafe but it was closed for a wedding.

I walked up from Garstang on arriving on the 41 Morecambe bus from Preston.Brilliant walk up via Grizedale Res & down via Scorten back to Garstang.Fantastic 360 views after a 12 hour round trip hence the 10.

Approached from east, parked at Grizedale Bridge, SD535490. Outward via Holme Wood, along north side of Grizedale Lea Resr to steep path whice rises WNW from SD525484 to summit. Open popular hilltop on access land. Pillar in good condition. Spider plugged with replacement plastic cap. Flush bracket faces ENE, ~69°. Vented through three sight holes, FB face plugged, inards blacked with debris. Full 360° panoramic view. Returned via Fell End, waymarked diversion gives shortcut across field thus avoiding going through farmyard.

Latest visit of literally hundreds! My local trig - and my favourite! Fantastic views for very little effort and any number of ascent routes as it's on access land. As previously reported by another trigpointer, it is NICKY (not NICKEY) NOOK.

Visited the summit and Trig whilst also calling at the new Geocaches nearby. A bit hazy today but at least it had cooled down from the horribly hot weather of late. A grand viewpoint for little effort.

A circular walk from Scorton visiting Nicky Nook before returning via Grizedale. Good views slightly spoiled by the haze.

Easily accessible and on walked footpath just off right of way. We came up from Grize Dale on one of the Calder Vale Circular Walks. Views today were somewhat restricted by mist and or low cloud. Pillar is in good condition although old paint now well flaked. Plastic plug.

A cloudy day, but still worth finding on 7.25 mile walk which we started from Grizedale Bridge. Couldn't actually get close to trig as surrounded by party of students, but anyway we walked right by it.

Pleasant walk along track by stream followed by a short but steep ascent from S. Plug replaced, three sighting holes open. Views good but weather dull.

Score would have been higher if visibility were better. Slight erosion around base, 1 sight hole blocked. Insert plug. Should this be Nicky Nook as on OS maps?

Nice circuit from Scorton. RAF Memorial Flight flew by while we were on the summit - almost a Lancaster over Lancaster!

Excellent views all round including the tower at Blackpool. It had a sentinel crow on top as we approached, looked impressive black on white.

My first logged trig! Paid a visit to the Nook to do a maintenance visit on my nearby cache. Outstanding views from here so it gets a 10 - Ok I'm biased but they are great on a sunny day!!
