With Roger Templeman on a very wet and windy day. We walked up from the minor road to SW, uncovering Millstone Rigg concrete ring on the way. Stone-built pillar in poor condition with several loose stones, a significant amount of top screed missing and no flush bracket. The central plumb-line hole has a composite cap replacing its mising metal cap. There is what superficially looks like a cut benchmark on a flat stone approx 1m N of the pillar. This is quite possibly the old trig.

Plug replaced by cover; FB missing (logged as 10803 on previous visits 11 Sep 1988 and 23 Jun 1990). One end of spider exposed. Stone built pillar - becoming loose and bulging in places. The Standards were rebuilt a while ago and look impressive - no surprise that Andy Goldsworthy regards them as an influence on his sculpture.
