Great views of the countryside and coastline. Pillar in good condition though the stonework around the base is partially missing on the east side. From a survey perspective itís a bit odd that the pillar isnít at the highest point in the field in order to maximise visibility and lines of sight. I walked up from Braunton though parking is possible in the field gate entrance.

Where did this name come from? Anyway, it's built on a 3 ft. high granite base in a large arable field about 100 yards off a narrow lane. Access over ancient redundant gate. All intact with the original plug. Wonderful views westwards over Braunton and SE over Saunton Sands.
