Approached from south east, lane through to Horns Cross was shut, traffic, including lorries were diverted along narrow lanes, impatient drivers, not a good combination. Turned north off the busy A39 a couple of hundred metres west of Horns Cross onto lane. Past a building site, busy with lorries. Spotted pillar on plinth on south side of lane. Nowhere to pull over. Reversed back down the lane for a couple of hundred metres, still nowhere. Back to pillar, stopped on lane, left door open, hurriedly took photographs of FB, onto plinth, very quick couple of shots. Removed some ivy, all the loose vegetation went all over my car. Chipped top, spider and cap in place. Farmland views to south, sea to north. Thankfully no one else came along.

I didn't climb up as I could photo the FB from road level. Pillar looked OK from the road but couldn't stay to check it's condition as we were between some serious thunder showers.

No views Stevie Boy??!!! From the other side of the road there is a stupendous view of Bideford Bay across to Baggy Point, hence my score for this otherwise unremarkable Devon lanesider, the 4th and last of a pleasant morning driving around from our nearby campsite at Broad Park Farm.

Even by SW standards, the lane leading to this trig is very narrow! Fortunately we didn't meet anyone else. Trig on top of high bank almost totally overgrown by hedge - amazing how much has grown since Brisboy's photo earlier this year. Managed to dig out the FB, but no hope of climbing up to see the top, or the views (although those of the coast are excellent from an adjacent gateway).

Hedge has been cleared quite a bit. Able to climb up & photograph spider. Views excellent from this vantage point.

Our 4th trig bag en-route to Bideford to get the ferry across to Lundy. Roadside location, getting very buried in the hedgerow, had a trial getting a photo of the flush bracket. Some damage to the top of the pillar. No views.

Very wet day so left it late. Infact the sun shone on the pillar briefly before it disappeared again. More very narrow Devon lanes. Easy to spot.Parked next to it though theres a field gate just east. No views,only hedges!

if you have a small car, are thin, and breath in deeply, you can park in the lane next to the trig. If not... don't!

In overgrown hedgerow about 1 km along a typical Devonshire country lane. Drove up and then had to negotiate another couple of miles of single car lane hoping that nothing came the other way!

Top chipped, metal cap, shallow letters. On hedgebank S side of road, stone plinth.

A lane-side pillar, covered with ivy in the hedgerow but no vegetation in leaf at this time of year so spotted easily. There is one top corner missing, probably after a brush with the hedgeclipper. Original plug with slightly-indented letters. All sightholes below vegetation level. Excellent views along the N Devon coast and inland over fields. No paint.
