Beautiful location on a cool crisp spring day. Wide views across loch to W and mountains to E. I see we missed meeting paulxtr also at trig same afternoon.

From cattle grid to SW, good verge parking. Pillar has an aging coat of white paint, but still looking OK; original centre cap retained, raised lettering; rear sight hole open, other 3 plugged with front plug degrading. Extensive panoramic views.

Not on the list for today but the weather was so lovely decided to squeeze a few more in! Parked in a lay-by (N55° 01.813' W4° 37.316') at the start of the Southern Upland Way for a short and enjoyable stroll to the trigpoint.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 14th October 1954 costing £16.0s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NX56/DM/T34 by distomat survey in 1958. Levelled for height in 1973. Last maintained by the OS in June 1985. SITE VISIT: Pillar gleaming in white paint, excellent condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces SSW, ~198°. Pillar vented through NE sight hole. 360° panorama from this point on the Southern Upland way.

Bagged whilst doing part of Southern Upland Way.Trig has nice smart white coat and all the stones around it are painted white too.Good views to Galloway Hills.
