Brilliant TP to visit - very unusual being right on the Oldmeldrum Golf Course - good opportunity to walk the local area as well - win win - and Rocco loved it.

A nice easy trig to bag when we were in the vicinity. Had to be quick with the photos though due to golfers approaching the green!

Just about as easy as they get. Even though the golf course was very busy, it was a simple enough visit. The pillar retains its cap, and has one s/h open. There is also a notice attached to the pillar, exclaiming that cctv is in operation, so I duly combed my hair, dusted myself down, and smiled for the cameras throughout the visit.

Didn't even realise is logged this already before in April '16 Afterwards I fancied a cup of tea so went up into the clubhouse bar and said I was a non mender but could I. Lady said no unless you get signed in by a member so someone signboard me in and I duly had a cuppa. The symbol of the club is the groaner, immortalised in a fancy stained glass panel in a big West facing picture window half way up the stairs. 'You can see it at the end of the course' one of the guys said. I imagined, wholly wrongly, from cursory glance at the stained glass, that it was a view out to sea of some big sea stack rock. Couldn't find it anywhere off the coast on my map. No wonder. Na.. It's just a wee rock about metre and a half high next to the 14th tee..!!!

Really easy to find sitting next to the road on a fenceless golf course. There is even ample parking opposite. Now if only other trigs had such nice manicured grass around them. But there again I would miss the nettles and whins.

Very easy, drove all the way to it. Thought you would need permission as it was a golf course trig but the road follows the golf course all the way up the hill.

I do love golf course trigs. makes me feel like painting a green jacket on one sometime. I first had this urge on a golf course trig at Pollock in Glasgow in March 1999. deep indented letters in the surviving spider plug.

Playing in the Texas Scramble at Oldmeldrum, came across this trig next to the 2nd tee/17th green. Being on the highest point of the course it gives good views westerly towards Bennachie and hills beyond. NB: On the eastern fringe of the course next to the 14th fairway stands a large stone called the Groaner, which is also the emblem of the club.
