September Camp 2023 - Nidderdale. Walked up the Trapping Hill road from Lofthouse to the cattle grid then followed the wall. Had to carefully cross the wall to access the trig, which showed slight damage to the top with one part of the spider exposed. Good views of upper Nidderdale, and now I have been up Meugher its airy dome is obvious and beautiful. Onto the second trig of the day next....

Short walk following the stone wall on you right The Trig point is situated in the opposite field. The views are amazing on a clear sunny day.

Trig point at Eccleshill common, it's a forgotten one some damage to top brass fitting no plug and could do with a lock of paint. Easy to find good views and good place to activate on 2m ham radio.

Parked up at the Cattle grid and Walked up the Moorland half a mile had to chamber over a wall to get to the Trig Point, I operated and activated and Made contact with other stations on 2m Ham Radio.

Ouster Bank Nice half mile walk up the Moorlands following the Stone Wall, Trig is on your Right, Stay a while and enjoy the view's.

A glorious, in fact too hot day. Struggling with heat rash as the evening comes in. A glorious walk up from Nidderdale, years after first planned visit Jenny Twigg. Indeed she is a grey lady. Curlews all over and a view to the North Yorks Moors basking out to hazy blocks of Teeside.

Parked just past the cattle grid and stalked uphill with the wall on our left. Pillar is in a lovely spot, with sumptuous views however the top is slightly damaged with deep cracks and a partially exposed spider 'vane'. A bad winter could see this one deteriorate significantly I thought. Returned via the same way then on to Bishopside Brae.

Reasonably easy approach from the cattle grid, then a hop over the wall. Pillar in reasonable condition bar some damage to the top on the non flush bracket side. cracking views of Nidderdale and right across to the North York Moors.

Walked along track from Trapping Hill road SE 114751. After about 200 metres bearing left to walk up the moor to the trigpoint. Good distant views, especially to the west.

walked the short distance alongside the wall from the cattle grid and scaled the wall to the trig which is generally in Good condition with some slght cracks on top and a small piece missing from its North face the cap is original and one of the sight holes is open , the FB faces 346 no views on a misty day

HISTORY: Pillar completed 11th September 1953 costing £18.6s.0d. Levelled for height in 1954. Computed as secondary triangulation station SE38/13 within the Harrogate block during 1955. Last maintained by the OS in May 1975. SITE VISIT: Approached from north. Parked on NW side of road just east of cattle grid. Straight route up from cattle grid. Heather clad moor, behind wall from worn path. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces NNW, ~347°. Vented through southeast sight hole. Full 360° open outlook. Continued to Sandy Hill and back, long walk.

Lies a few hundred yards from along the eastward wall running from the cattle grid. Trig in good condition with original inscribed OS plug. Great views of the head of Nidderdale as well as towards the north-east.

Approached it from the east following the wall that leaves the track to/from Grewelthorpe Moor at Shooting Box Allotment. This approach proved to be remarkably easy. I had expected a difficult passage across the heather but such was not the case. Excellent viewpoint for Upper Nidderdale. As per nearly every other trig point (Heyshaw Moor excepted!!) it could do with a coat of paint.

Dalesbus from Leeds/Pateley Bridge. Walked up from Lofthouse - its a pretty steep road - and thought Id attack it across the open moor from the wide track that runs towards Arnagill Moor. Bit of a mistake really as whilst its short in length its a bit of a cr*ppy plod. With hindsight I should have continued up the road and taken Garys (Sykesfamily) advice and followed the wall with it being on my left. After the tig I followed the wall along a faint path/sheep trail which was fine, to rejoin the track en-route to Sandy Hill - so if you come from that direction theres OK access. OK view from the trig but nothing special.
