I've logged this one as Couldn't Find It. We caught the train up from South Wales and stayed in Settle. Next day, train to Ribblehead and walked along the main road and up towards the trig following the dry stone wall. The weather was quite pleasant until we got to the top of the steep climb where it starts leveling out, and then it changed. Thick cloud, howling wind and rain made us turn back even though we must have been almost at the pillar. A wet and dismal walk back to the station where we had a lovely cup of tea standing by a real fire. A good call to turn back and live to Trig another day!!

In the saddle that separates Simon Fell from Park Fell I climbed the wall and then headed straight up the hill to the pillar. No need to climb the fence though - the pillar sits practically opposite a gap in the wall !! The summit of Park Fell was below the cloud base so I had good views back towards Ingleborough and across to Pen-y-ghent. Had there been blue skies overhead then I would definitely have rated this higher. I've listed this as slightly damaged because the top 0.5cm of concrete is breaking away - in time I suspect the spider will become exposed.

Ingleborough and park Fell. Excellent walk up from Chapel-le-Dale passing an old lime kiln some very impressive limestone pavement and the biggest sink hole I've seen with the worrying name ( Braithwaite Wife Hole ! ) a well made path makes the going pretty easy until you get to the steep bit but that’s soon over and your soon walking over the large summit Plateau towards the well built stone trig, which is kept company buy a excellent cross shelter adorned with a commemorative sighting plaque commemorating the Queens coronation good all round views, I then headed NE along the ridge path skirting Simon Fell on to Park Fell for my second Trig of the day. Good view of the Ribblehead viaduct as I descended Park Fell then followed path east across Scar close

Charlie & I took the long route and approached this trig from Horton in Ribbledale. We took the path up towards Ingleborough then turned due north at Simon Fell Breast to go up and over Simon Fell to the trig. Lovely day, excellent views of the three peaks.

I walked over from Simon Fell and didn't meet a sole since leaving Inglebourough. Just one hint if coming this route - after decending off Simon Fell and just before going up again, don't be tempted to take the feint path straight ahead as you will end up in a bog. Stay to the left where that track follows the wall.

lovely day, not too hot. came up from the hill inn- what's happened to the atmosphere there?? used to be crazy on a sat. night tons of rough campers, bikes & beards a-plenty, seems moribund now.[i learned that word from alan partridge!] any way, the trig, yes it's there. english nature have put a waymarked path to it from the north which goes east from the ridge to ingleburg. it has a stump post about every 100 yards to show you the way. complete overkill. needs cairn kicker camaroon mcneeesh up here to destroy them. really nice walk on to the summit of ingleburg especially at the'cove' before the final pull. btw saw a squirrel running along the top wall going northwards, no wonder they're taking over. i got in front of it and shoo'd it back south, dirty grey yankee invader!!

Easily the best & quietest way on/off Ingleborough with great views across to Ribblehead, Whernside & Pen Y Ghent. Not shown as a right of way on the OS map but where the route from Ingleborough descends steeply towards Philpin take the track heading to the right across the lip of the hill (its not as sheer as it at first looks, the path is fine in all but the icyest of weather). Photos from the re-visit on 27/01/07, on this occasion I came up from Ribblehead and took the wide path over Park/Simon Fell to Ingleborough and thence Horton. Immersed in cloud with poor visibility once on the top. And again 30/05/2009 from Clapham via Newby & Ingleborough to reach Ribblehead. No cars, on foot (on all occasions).
