Out of the clag on Ingleborough and took the trod running above Chapel-le-Dale to Park Fell (only followed the wall path for last km). If you do this route there is a gate on the east side which will give you access to this pillar. A lonesome one with no special features. Limestone is still mined actively and props up the economy in some rural areas. Gifted to limestone and the industry it brings.

Parked near to Gauber Farm, crossed the railway bridge to reach the very old (1623) Colt Park. From there it was a simple but steep climb up alongside the wall. A highlight of the walk was the trees growing out of a jumble of moss covered limestone boulders near the quarries. Also loved the dramatic profile of Ingleborough from the pillar...oh and the wonderful aerial view of Ribblehead Viaduct . Not bad really.

Next day, train to Ribblehead and walked along the main road and up towards the trig following the dry stone wall. The weather was quite pleasant until we got to the top of the steep climb where it starts leveling out, and then it changed. Thick cloud, howling wind and rain made us turn back even though we must have been almost at the pillar. A wet and dismal walk back to the station where we had a lovely cup of tea standing by a real fire. A good call to turn back and live to Trig another day!!
