More low cloud, wind and drizzle up and down to the pillar. I followed the quad bike track as far as a gate and turned left along a fence, over fence and headed across the heather in the general direction of the pillar via a large cairn. I am sure this would have been easier in better visibility and I would have given a higher mark. On my return, I noticed a small footbridge on the right and a green lane marker. This may give better and shorter access to the pillar. Given the conditions, I saw no sign of a quad bike track to the pillar.

Strange name for the trig - it's on Fiend's Fell and there's no pasture, no house and no farm up here. The nearest Pasturehouse I could see is 1.75 miles away to the West. The earlier cool wind has been joined by some rain - we'd have said it's a nice day if it was the middle of February and not the middle of summer, but at least it made it atmospheric. Lovely views over the Eden Valley and across to the Lakes.

Trig with some added extra Seems these two stones have been added in the last couple of months. Perhaps it's to stop it blowing away.

Strange name for the trig point that is at the summit of Fiend's Fell. I cannot even locate Pasturehouse Farm on the map! A very pleasant traverse from Melmerby Fell across delightful short-cropped and springy turf. Only within 20 minutes of the road at Hartside it would be feasible to bring a pot of paint and a brush up to give the pillar, which physically is complete, a much needed coat of paint.
