Finally got this trig, original log is below for my reminiscing. Hot day, first of two trigs on way home after visiting RAF Holmpton museum underground bunker. Interesting place, never knew there were so many round the country. Trig easily found, SE of the ROC observation post (there were 8,600 of these dotted round the UK I was told at Holmpton.) Good views of the Humber estuary. On to Hull for a stroll round then South Cave FBM. (Original log:09/09/16 D2-9 Last of two day trig hunting jaunt, this was number 18 and I couldn't get to it, hidden by six foot high corn on the cobs. Nearby B&B owners told me where it was, but farmer who owns the field, Charlie, is real strict and hates trespassers, so bear this in mind. Spotted the ROC post, but no pillar. Disappointed, but hey, I bagged the other 17 with a good measure of fun.)

(641) Bit of a pull-in near to the entrance way for the B&B for parking. Spoke to Francis who owns the land with his father, who was happy to let me visit the Pillar. Even happier that I'd paid him the courtesy of seeking him out and asking about visiting. Easy to find. With two breeze blocks perched on top of it.

I was standing near the entrance to Paull Holme Farm pondering how to get into the field when the owners appeared up the drive in a car. They were fine about me climbing up the bank and into the field to visit the trig. In fact the easiest way in is half way down the track, there is a gap in the barbed wire on the right up onto the bank. I could see the bunker a few yards away but didn't chance a visit without permission.

When we got to the field with the trig in the gate was open and a Range Rover was parked near the top of the hill close to a disused Nuclear Observation Bunker (see TP4768 Mellor). There were two dogs next to the bunker and the hatch was up so the driver of the Range Rover was obviously inside. We visited the trig and as we were walking back a head emerged followed by the comment 'You're trespassing'. I walked over as the girls disappeared to the car and after the initial explanation of what we were doing I had a good chat with the farmer - who also now owned the bunker - as they were handed back to landowners after the Cold War finished. He was trying to restore it to it's original condition and invited me to have a look inside - makes a change from trigs! He is also the farmer who owns the sheep at Holmpton Bunker - where Garth trig point is. Anybody interested can find information about bunkers on 'subterranea brittanica' a website dedicated to things underground. Good views over the Humber. Plug with indented lettering.
