As per visit below, May be best coming from road to the south near reservoir, and follow power lines directly to trig.

Back up road and turned right at county boundaries signs, duck under branches and it's a clear, wet stroll for a couple of minutes to pillar below power lines. Very little ascent. Mossy pillar and central metalwork in mint condition - it leaps out at you.

All available possible nearby parking spots taken by machinery undertaking drainage works so parked at the wind farm entrance to the north. Tree break on the road at the border signs appears overgrown, the pillar is located on the line of a 11kVa power line so may be better following this line up from the minor road to the south.

Good condition pillar with some minor damage to the top corners and moss covered. Also, very black as noted previously. FB faces west-is with the south-ish sighthole open only. Cap present with raised lettering. Parked in the model flyers car park after asking permission. Interestingly, the chap who said "go right ahead and the trig's up that ride there" got shouted at by an elder member of the club about letting "non-flyers use the car park". Nice to see consistency there!

Parked at the County border and felt a touch of Narnia as I pushed through the first 50 feet of trees before the mossy, squelchy avenue opened up. An obviously well used trig with bones predated on the top by some big bird! :D

Views no nowhere, at junction of firebreaks surrounded by tall connifers which were just saplings on my first visit in 1985. Boggy on all approaches. No problems from toy plane GOMLs for me, I walked here from West Calder then home (Edinburgh, 14 hours in all) via a further five trigs. Built 23rd August 1939. Tertiary station in Block NT18, Dunfermline. Revisited and photographed 29/05/2005, GRP.

Look for the gate by the side of the road at NT 0048 5816 (right on the regional border), where a corridor between the trees leads up to the pillar. Short, easy walk, although slightly boggy. Good condition pillar, with spider cap. No views, except for the trees. I originally parked in a big, nearly empty car park just along the opposite side of the road, and was immediately GOML'd by a couple of guys flying their model plane. They insisted that the car park was for model plane flyers only, and they'd padlock the gates to block me in if I left my car there, even for the ten minutes it would take to get to the trig and back. Nice people.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 23rd August 1939 costing 5.5s.9d. In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NT18/T2 in the Dunfermline secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1955. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in 1978. Designated woodland. The trees were just saplings in 1985. The spider plug retained is not the original type for a pillar that old. Revisited 29/05/2005.
