Along the track from Barns. Basked in the sun at the trig for half an hour taking in the view. Didn't want to leave.

As with most of the previous visitors I made my way up along the decent road from Barns past the former Stobs camp. A barmy 9 degrees for January at the top and decent views. Easier than I thought so off to White Hill to complete the Hawick pillars.

Walked up the track from Barns...rather a bootcamp of a trek, which was apt considering the history of a site. Although the hill is a sharp peak, the ascent was easy. The scenery round about is a bit too desolate for my liking, however the views from the summit were excellent, helped along by lovely sunny weather...although it was blowing a howling gale up top!

Sharp peak, typical of the moorland south of Hawick. Once a military training area, there are concrete blocks lying about the summit. "Asphalt" plug replacement. Ascent by bike to pass near summit. Onward progress blocked by timber loading, found a good track from Penchrise to Shankend instead.
