Parked up on the road between West Witton and Carlton. Best spot was just south of the cattle grid. Path to Penhill starts just north of the cattle grid, then fairly straight through a few fields before the steep ascent up to the round shelter. From there over to the gate and then along by the wall until leaving it as it bends around and heading straight on to the pillar. Great views all around but especially up Wensleydale. Saw a Golden Plover on the moor top. Beer in the Old Horn Inn at Spennithorne afterwards.
