Previous entry gives perfect description Parked on the road to the north east of the pillar. Took the the public right of way (PRoW) from the road, which takes you into a wood. There is then a path which leads off to the right from the PRoW, which is not marked on OS Maps, which takes you up to the pillar.

All intact. Good path to summit. Would not like to find alternative through undergrowth. A memorial to Mick here as also seen on several neighbouring pillars.

On path through brambly bracken and a few trees, in grassy level clearing. Rainy. Good if hazy views.

Blustery day, some light snow. Views of wild countryside. Approached on foot from Ffrith, through Nant woods and right turn at pylon and following a narrow uphill footpath. Back to Ffrith by pushing on towards Trimley Hall Farm.

parked by the war memorial in bwlchgwyn (a sign coming into the village stated it was the highest village in wales, but a bit of research proves this is not the case ... apparently it’s not even the 2nd highest! ... time to sort your sign out me thinks!) ... anyway, set off down the road opposite the memorial, then used a combination of r.o.w’s and forest roads to traverse down into the valley and back up the other side to the pillar ... got there just as 3 mountain bikers arrived from the opposite direction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kflMlXjzpqU

Pleasant views westward to the Clwydian Range are to be had from this peaceful hilltop. My onward route lay to the northeast however, through Ffrith and Cymau. I then topped off a very productive day out with a quick visit to Caergwrle Castle prior to catching my pre-arranged 3pm lift home.

Very attractive hill with fine woodlands, and some interesting pigs. The nearby gorge was being used by an outdoor education centre. The pillar is in good condition and intact.

We took the footpath from the north east (easy parking) and after pleasant sheepy fields you arrive at the wood. This is quite dense in places but there is a path which goes straight past the trig. Plug with raised lettering.
