Parked in Penpole Lane at west end of hill near start of footpath. Up steps, although a bit muddy and steps don’t go all the way up. Along ridge at top of hill. After about two hundred metres a capstan comes into view, a couple of metres away is the pillar. Pillar has been decapitated, sadly. FB survives. Raised S prefix. Limited views through trees. Some gaps open up from the footpath with views to the north of M5, Avonmouth and Severn Bridge. A lot of litter around. Not sure what the capstan is for but the metal bench around it is a fascinating piece of artwork, like a Spirograph.

It does look like something has chewed it. The Stone Dial monument next to it looks far more interesting, is much older and was being admired by some American tourists who looked rather bemused that I was taking pictures of the concrete bollard instead.

My second trig of 2023, and given that my first was Holybourne, I was starting to wonder whether I'd get any that weren't decapitated... Sorry looking "chobbled" pillar sits beside a track next to a large circular monument. Wooded ridge offers no views, but access is very easy. Too easy, in fact - lots of loathesome litter louts have been here before me.

Walking from Pill via Avonmouth Bridge, Blaise Castle Estate, Sneyd Park, Clifton to Bristol then bus X4 back. Trig in a sorry state and no views. There is a historic sundial a few yards away and is believed to be 400 years old and was once a marker for shipping.

Enjoying the AdLab as one stage brought me here, and to my surprise found this TP ! As already noted the top plate is missing and the concrete top has been badly damaged, but it is still clearly a trig point! Due to tree growth all around, not much scenery to be seen though the park itself is beautiful and peaceful.

On a Geocaching walk with friends and this was right next to one of our stops. Cant believe I hadn't logged as I have walked through these woods previously. Mark based on nearby views and general location rather than pillar.

On my way to Bude again with CherryBubb and we decided to see how many YSM trigs we could do in a day. This was the first. Trig is massively damaged on top as many photos show. Did a couple of Geocaches whilst in the area.

Mr N did not want to be left in the car, again, so I took him with me to this, the last trig of the day. Easy to find as it just off a very well trodden path by another round pillar with a seating around it. Mr N took no interest in the Trig at all. There is still a little pocket of trigs left around Bristol that I need to bag but they will have to wait until next year now. Next week we are in North Devon so I might see if I can get Mr N interested in tracking down some around there.

Stopped on the road where the arrow was closest and found a faint path heading up. It must go to the trig? Path split and stopped at the bottom of a rocky cliff.Climbed up. Saw trig beside some sort of monument (Would have been interesting to see in the daylight!) Chose a more sensible path back down.

Bagged as YSM680 Penpole. First YSM and 2nd pillar of a massive trig bagging trip, planned to do a lot less YOSMS and less driving but due to the pending change, revised my list and soon Mr U2 was deciding to join me, blooming last minute revisions could mean some massive diversions! So glad he did as I had a wee accident and fell on a slippy floor in the kitchen on Thursday night and couldn't bend my right knee to change gear, which meant Mr U2 had to drive all day! Great wee starter up the steep steps to the Trigpoint. Path and steps very dry today. Trig in a bit of a sorry state.

I parked on Penpole Lane to the west and walked up the new steps from there onto the ridge and along to the monument and nearby damaged trig point. There used to be good views from here before the trees grew.

Steep pull up some steps then walk along ridge. Pillar found next to a monument!!. It is damaged in particular on the top. No views to be had as surrounded by trees.

Mr Penfold had Junior Penfold's in tow today so a game of hide and seek ensued. Who can bag the trig first. Euan did, Well done. Alas, many other sorts have found this trig before and it shows the results of vandalism. The top corners are chipped away and what looks like fire damage on the top. What a shame. Otherwise, it is located in a pleasant spot.

No litter or burnt cars now. Little wooded glade with odd monument, glimpses through the trees of the Avonmouth and Severn bridges, and on the day I visited the sound of a brass band practising somewhere nearby.

The pillar is sited next to a path along the top of partly wooded ridge. It has FB S/3368; the top of the pillar is badly damaged and it has no cap, spider or loops. A strange stone monumental sundial bench with no inscription stands close by. It was approached from the east through Penpole Woods from the car park next to Shirehampton Road. Initially a pleasant stroll through quite pleasant woodland with a view of the impressive Kingsweston House. Unfortunately it soon deteriorated due to the litter, some graffiti and a burnt out car. There are glimpses through the leafless trees over the suburban housing of Shirehampton towards Ashton Hill in the south; the Avon Motorway Bridge is to the south west. In the north there are glimpses of the Severn Estuary, the Second Severn Crossing and the outline of some Welsh hills on the horizon.

The views from the ridge down to the housing estates and industrial areas below are impressive if not exactly appealing, and the pillar has obviously seen better days. That said, we enjoyed the walk over from Westbury via Kingsweston Hill - a long strand of green within the city.

The top of this one has gone so it's clearly damaged. Set opposite a pillar kind of monument No views through the trees but a nice walk there and back. Definitely a missing plug

Grotty spot behind some tower blocks,possible to stop level and just below the pillar .Pillar a sad state as are so many city ones,grafitti and a fire about the norm!

We parked opposite the school and walked up from there. The pillar is next to a strnge stone and iron seat. Spider completely missing but FB still OK.

The most damaged TP I have yet visited. Trees hide the view towards the M5 and Avonmouth, which is perhaps a good thing.
