Wow, missed the u3a baggers (see below) by less than an hour. Ascent from Greenfield. Pillar guarded by a single indignant sheep. Twiggy saw it off (she was attached to me by a lead, if anyone was worried).

Drove up to the end of the steep lane off A5026 in Hollywell. Easy walk to the pillar. Excellent views of the Wirral and surrounding area. Richard for HCU3A.

Drove up the hill until we ran out of road and then took the lower footpath initially heading in the right direction, getting badly nettled in the process. Climbed over a fence to reach the right field, which today was full of newly made big bales. Cracking views over the Dee Estuary

Parked on the road to the south of the pillar and the A55, near the Caelcoed Methodist Church. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from there through the Holywell Golf Club and over a bridge that takes you over the A55. From there, continued to follow the PRoW up to the pillar, which is in a fantastic setting with great views of the River Dee. The pillar has had a fresh coat of white paint applied to it since the @TTay88 visit on the 31.12.21. The cap was missing from the spider, so I replaced it.

Spectactular views across the Dee estuary and South Wirral. Can even see Liverpool! Easy hike up from Holway. Trig is on the footpath so easy access. Plug is missing and someone has stuck a Welsh indepence sticker over the hole ;)

I parked up by the reservoir on the road that takes you to the monument. I then walked along this same road and took the footpath (as previous loggers) that runs roughly north to the pillar. This lead me to a field of kale with the pillar out of sight and cows present. I therefore retraced my steps and took the marked path further east. The farmer was nearby but didn't spot me. I followed round the outside of his kale field then as I turned for the final section there he was ... with cows! He was fine with me bagging the trig and showed me where to go though advised me I'd get wet. I did but the views over Holwell, the Dee Estuary and the Wirral were worth it. Same route back. Spider and FB in place, cap missing, pillar sound.

Nothing much seems to change here. Parked near memorial to George V, FP down the lane still unmarked/tricky to find but there is a walked track and stiles to the unpathed cropped field where the trig looks down over the Dee estuary

Parked by golf course followed path over dual carriageway then easy path up to field full of crops. Trig pillar in middle of field but in good condition with good views across the Dee. Trees lower down hill blocking some of the view towards Moel Famau.

Parked up lane near to monument. Footpaths not easy to find but they are there. About a quarter of a mile to the trig. Good views over the Wirral and north Wales coast.

Cap missing with only SouthWest sight open. Lively green top to this BSM pillar sat in a water-filled bole today. A double rainbow moment on a day with hail, sleet, snow and knee-deep mud. Glorious!

Got off the bus in the centre of Holywell and then headed straight up here. The visibility wasn't the best but there was still plenty of interest around the Dee Estuary. I then continued on to Bryn Cloddiau trig pillar.

FOUND TP AFTER SCOUTING A CACHE LOCATION FOR A FRIEND. HAD TO CLIMB OVER A STILE IN BAD REPAIR TO GET TO THE FOOTPATH LEADING TO IT. GREAT VEIWS OVER THE DEE ESTUARY.
