Easy free parking here at the old Hafna Mine. Climb the steps through the mine workings and follow the footpath until you’re just south of the pillar, then follow the property boundary fence line. The pillar is built of local slate rather than concrete, and is in nice condition. The centre plug has been replaced with bitumen filler but all the other metalwork is intact. Visibility is restricted by trees but what you can see is very pleasant.

Lovely little back lane off the A5 and then a pleasant walk through the forest. The pillar is made of rough slate blocks and is almost rectangular. There is a plastic plug replacement. The stout concrete base is about 6" proud of the surface on a low mound. Sadly, the views aren't as good as I'd hoped - mostly restricted by trees but to the East you have a good panorama of 3 wind turbines of which no sensible architect would be proud. Incidentally, there are some very odd calcium carbonate deposits on the north face - almost like stalactites!
