Parked opposite farm holiday lets. RoW goes NW through the lets and out into cattle pasture beyond where trig resides. Plenty of feisty and inquisitive occupants wondering what I was up to! Pillar has a smooth screed finish and retains original top cap, with deeply indented lettering; all sight holes open. Nice 360deg panorama. My final Monmouthsire pillar.

Strange access through the farm garden (legally - that's where the footpath goes). Weather was rain and fog so no view today but I don't live far and I know the views are normally pretty good given it's height,

I was just arriving at the farm when I saw a landrover pull up. I asked the gent if he was the farmer and he was and had no objection to me veering off the path to the trig. When going through the farmyard, the lady asked if she could help and I explained what her husband had said. I solved the problem for her as to where her husband had got to - she had been trying to find him. Great views from the top on this lovely Spring day.

Met the farmer from Pen-y-lan Farm, who was a very pleasant chap. He was more than happy for us to visit his trig, which is in near perfect condition. Great views from here, especially to Skirrid.

We parked at Pen-y-lan farm and took the footpath through the farm (over the patio) and into the trig field via the stile. Access no problem. Plug with heavily indented lettering.

Either walk through farm and ask or there is a footpath to the NE that skirts back round behind the farm and only 50m from pillar.

Near road but in private horse field. Chose not to pursue on foot from public footpath due to two very lively dogs. Condition appeared good.
