(1189) Had asked around as to who actually owned this land the previous month, but no joy then. Asking today, I was informed that the owners didn't live in the area. H. A. Lambert (Farmers) Ltd, roughly 10 miles away in Paull, was the chaps I needed to contact. One phone call (01482 897526) and permission to visit was freely given. Parked up at the start of the farm track roughly at the junction of Bydales and Arables Lanes. Walked down that until it takes a sharp turn to the right, then followed several field boundaries and then up some tractor tracks for the last section. All very muddy for sure. Build up of soil around the pillar, but FB still clear and readable. A nice one to bag, and my final extant pillar in the Holderness/Spurn area of East Yorkshire.

Trip up to Beverley YHA,the first of the year due to the recent deluge, and a chance to resume trigging and tick off the reamining four pillars in the Withernsea area. Ground now sufficiently dry to walk across without coming out with divers' boots. Top of pillar just visible as it is sited off from highest point. crossed sprouting crop from North.

Approach from North along track and tractor tramlines. Got to TA 31249 24130 and could not see pillar (roughly 25m away). Clearly the wrong time of year to visit as the oil seed rape would not permit further access. As we had pushed our luck to this point we admitted defeat and retreated.

Piper Hill Partington church visible but no pillar.
