Had intended to approach from south through Marsh Gibbon but road was closed by the railway bridge. Second road closure encountered that morning. Detour was around to south and then back to north east. Pulled over near entrance to heavily secured compound. Checked around the perimeter fence and tried looking through the fence but couldn’t see pillar. Checked detailed map which indicated pillar was actually inside the compound. Didn’t fancy my chances. Nobody by gate. Broken telephone in yellow box. A couple of numbers on signs at the gate. Rang one and asked if the gate could be opened. Like ‘open sesame’ and it slid open. Thankfully spotted the pillar about twenty metres to south east of gate so went straight to it and managed to grab a few photographs, but not before someone approached me to ask what I wanted. Fumbled with phone a bit getting pictures but just explained I was here to look at the pillar. No aggro, thankfully, accomplished what I wanted. Cap missing. No views as surrounded by buildings. Scraped a few loose stones away from FB to get number. Well! Extra point.

This young woman then said oh yes that would be my mum then the mum rang me back and said boys said no. Gently pushed my care case, explained if come a long way, an art p egg object and is be less than five minutes. Then mum instructed daughter to let me in. Then mum came across yard as gates were opening.. Escorted me to pillar and politely asked me about art project. I was so intent on getting my air dry clay FB cast that I forgot to take my photos, but pleased I got Job done.

When for a bit of a cycle just to put some miles down so went to Brackley and back before locating this Trig. As I climbed up the slight slope, from Poundon, I could see a double fence with barbwire on the top of them. I wondered if i would be able to access it. When I got to the gate, it was open and no one was in the gate house, so cycled right up to it, without any problems. Not many cars in here either. It seems to have sunk a bit. No views. Coming down the hill the other side was good as its steeper. And with this Trig I have now finished all of the ones centred on Reading. Good thing I am moving in a week then! So I will have more Trigs to bag from my new house.

WWII SOE base, then FCO/MI6 sigint station, currently Tower Hill Business Park. High security has been retained for the perimeter fencing, but seems gates are left open during business hours. However, having arrived and asking permission to view the trig was given an emphatic 'No, return later when boss is here', despite being able to see the pillar no amount of persuasion was any good. I did return later, but parked outside, walked in bagged the trig and walked out. Pillar has not retianed its cap and has no top plug. All sight holes are now below ground level. Can be viewed from outwith the fencing.

Second of two trigs after dropping son off in Bicester and what a surprise it turned out to be. I had doubts I wouldn't get to it with the fencing, but as the gate was open I drove straight in and parked in the car park near the deserted security block at the entrance. Spotted the trig on the near the corner of a factory unit and walked up to it a bit wary as a couple of CCTV cameras monitored the place. I decided to announce my presence to someone in a busy car body spray shop and chatted with a quality control bloke who said there was no problem. He'd never heard of trigpoints but if I wanted to I could speak with the owner of the site in the building near the tall aerial which I didn't do. He thought the place was a listening station in WW2 and heard there was a range of bunkers deep underground! The body parts were carbon fibre for the Aston Martin Vanquish. He said the owner of the unit near the trig had a tank in the bay next to it, go and have a look, he wouldn't mind. Sure enough, there was one with an armoured first aid personnel carrier behind it. All this upped the score from an initial 4 to a 9. No views, but so what... Advice: best to go during working hours mon to fri.
