I parked in the signed car park at St Mary's Park and walked across to the Prestwich Hills Estate. Interesting old reservoir walls and engraving at entrance to estate, once within I did the circular walk around the estate knowing the one is long gone. No views to speak of just houses, and not a rough estate thankfully.

Did the circular walk around the estate to try and spy out any suggestions of a view. Quite a nice neighbourhood.

Pillar gone, as is the entire reservoir! Replaced with Sim City identihousing. Pillar would have been somewhere in the garden of 18 Shirehills. No real views due to....housing. Probably would have been quite nice otherwise....oh well.

Yep - under someones front room... hmmm - I wonder if they all bought the houses for the extensive swimming pool in the basement. ;-) One sympathy point for the neat Original Reservoir entry carvings.

Got within 30m of the old location, on the drive of a house. No sign now of the old reservoir - perhaps one house stands unknowingly on the top of it

Drive by - nothing to see except a Manchester Corporation stone dating the reservoir construction in 1867 at the entrance to "Prestwich Hills".

Commemorative stone at entrance records "Manchester Corporation Waterworks. Prestwich Hills Reservoir. Constructed AD 1867" Replaced by monotonous modern housing "little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same".

Prestwich Resvr That was then: OS 1:50000 Sheet 109 revised 1981. Date of demise unknown but trig would have been difficult to reach in its day.
