Loved the plaque on this one explaining about trigs as so many people ask what they are. Fairly easy to locate. At the visitor centre go through the gate near the cafe. Take the right hand path that goes into the wooded area and not the one directly running beside the cafe. Follow for a short distance then turn left up a big hill. A cycle area will be too your right hand side. At the top keep walking a short distance until you see the trig in a small clearing on the right 😊

Nice location. Not all that easy to find as the area is criss-crossed by a network of potentially confusing paths. Put right by a very helpful chap at the bike rental place. Once on the correct path it is easy to spot just off the dirt track that runs up the hill. In aspect very similar to nearby Hawley. Open space surrounded by trees. Needs a repaint as the white is fading somewhat.

Left turn off A322 heading north west, towards Swinley Forest. Car park about half a kilometre on left. Popular place for mountain bikers. On foot along path due south and uphill. Past an off road cycle-cross track on the right. Although this is a high point continue past this for another 100 metres to a semi clearing, pillar on left. Near a bench cut from a tree trunk. No views. Memorial plaque on the side with information about use of TPs. Extra point for that. OS Landranger names this location as Gravel Hill.

Combined with a family walk in Swinley Forest which is a pleasant walk. Pillar easy to find at the top of a small hill. Fairly open and painted bright white which helps it stand out.

Good condition pillar in the midst of forest. FB faces north-ish, south-ish and east-ish sightholes open. Cap missing. No views to speak of. I recapped the pillar with a PETG replacement.

Both a Tough Mudder race and Extreme Cycling going on around it today, so we felt very modest just taking the short walk up to this. Easy to find and presumably had commanding views at one time - but not now.

An easy find with digital mapping. Walked up from Bagshot via Surrey Hill and returned via Lower Star Pole. Some very good heath and a few soldiers on exercise. The pillar is painted white and the cap is missing but generally in good condition.

First Trig of the day. Easy to find in the wood. Trig is painted white and has plaque on it explaining what a Trig Point is, to the unenlightened. Nice woodland setting but no views really.

Found it during a roundabout stroll in the misty & murky woods. The weather in the Southampton & Winchester area was glorious, but just south of Basingstoke the morning's fog refused to clear and so it remained all day. No change to pillar since recent logs.

In Swinley Wood, Crown Estate land but with open access to the public. Pulled into small dirt layby on B3430, 550m due N of trig to avoid car park charges. Good forest paths to pillar, found with fresh coat of white paint and info plate attached. Some chipping to top edges; cap missing, no plug; rear and LHD side sight holes open. Conifer woodland, no views.

Wow! It has been painted and an explanatory panel attached. Also, the nearby Look Out Discovery Centre issues a detailed leaflet about this trig point, OS background, and distance and bearings to other trig points.

Parked at the Look Out Discovery Centre, which was a pay & display car park (£2 for 4 hours). The car park was absolutely full to the brim, even though we are in the middle of winter. What will this place be like in the summer??? Trig in good condition, centre cap missing. I left a 2p coin in the rear sighthole (i.e. opposite side to the FB) for the next visitor to find. Happy new year!

I parked just off the B3430 at a bend in the road absolutely dead true north of the pillar! From here it was a nice third-of-a-mile walk along a striking ride through the forest. The pillar comes in to view quite late behind the vegetation to the west of the track. FB faces NNW; ENE & SSE sightholes open, others plugged; top of pillar has plug/cap missing. The pillar has an orienteering marker for company! No particular views thanks to the trees but it's a very pleasant spot indeed!

Not much of a view but Swinley Forest area is lovely to walk in. Very busy today and The Look Out Discovery Centre and car park were packed. You can buy an orienteering map of the area at the centre with the permanent course marked on it. The Trig is Control point number 3! 128m Me

Using borrowed camera and balanced on a pole... Took me ages to work out how to use the self-timer, but at least the nearby orienteering marker pillar meant I didn't have to have the camera on the floor for once.

Pleasant snowy day to grab this trig point whilst out looking for the SP series of caches. Spent a little time while with a man and 2 children talking to them about the history and uses of trig points, although I think they were more interested in Bekie's IPaq than the Trig. TP itself has it's plug missing so in keeping with our personal condition ratings, it's going down as slightly damaged.
