(611) Parked up in the blocked off field entrance way, and walked back down Straight Mile Road to the gap in the hedge which leads you into the field. Then it was simply a matter of walking the wide field boundary and peering through the conifers every once in a while. Soon spotted. FB faces the prison wall, so not much of a gap to get a decent photo. I thought this one might be difficult, but all passed off OK. High marks for the unusual setting.

I parked in a small layby about a field away - but would advise parking in prison car park - just enter prison access road from main road and turn left immediately into staff and visitor car park - go to West end, park, then follow line of trees alongside outer wall (now disused) of prison.

Took the advice of previous loggers. Parked in the cul-de-sac opposite the prison and then followed the line of conifers. The first thing to note was that there are enough rabbits here to feed the inmates of the prison for the next year! Then, to my amazement, right by the side of the pillar was a magnificent 'Mitre' leather football, probably from the exercise yard! That's two finds from consecutive pillars! There's quite a bit of faded paint on this one, and the plug is original - slightly indented letters. W sighthole open, the others closed. All you can see is the trunks of the conifers and the fence just outside the main prison compound. The adjacent field has potatoes which haven't yet been harvested.
