Parked by Washpool Crags and followed the (over engineered) track SW to Harnisha Carrs and from beyond the grouse butts took as direct a route SE to the pillar as the assorted peat hags, bogs and other nasties would allow. Awarding an extra point for the delightfully squat little stone built pillar, unusual for this neck of the woods! With daylight fading and something very big, black and ominous looking blowing in from the SW we took the easiest way off the hill, E along the fenceline till the B6278 road came into view and a quick direct descent NE down to meet it. It was dark nonetheless by the time we got back to the van and I was glad we hadn't tried to retrace our steps back to the Harnisha Carrs.

Parked in roadside pull in opposite PROW and followed path up heading for the fence line, once at fence line follow it straight to Pillar, Trig in good condition with top views off in all directions. Centre cap missing

Set off early as forecast for later was awful. Parked on road and followed fence line to trig. The walk was ok but boggy in places. It was very windy and misty and then 200m from the trig my foot disappeared into a boggy hole so I abandoned my idea of a longer walk and retraced my steps to the car.

Easy walk of 3 miles there and back from the large layby on the road to the east. Just follow the fence on a path all the way. Nice and dry today with heather in full bloom.

Parked on B6278 road summit. Path along south side of fence to within 150m of trig, then crossed to faint path on north side. Terrain dry. A pleasant walk on a nice sunny day with good views.

Parked in lay bay on roadside and followed fence line west all the way to the trig point. Not too wet and the land owner has cut a path through the heather most of the way.

A long plod from Westernhope following the fence line. Fortunately blue sky and excellent visibility throughout the day. This trig is close to the fence.

Walked from Raven Hills Trig, over Monk's Moor, down to old mine workings then up via track to shooting house. Stone built pillar - a little squat - some re-pointing needed, but basically good condition. Views pretty good.

SITE VISIT: Approached from ESE. Parking area, west side of B6278 at high point, NY991318. Direct route from road following fenceline. Pillar completed 3rd October 1947.
