3/6 today. The first thing to note as others have mentioned is that this trig is not the current digital OS maps but it is on older paper maps? On the OS online database the trig is still listed. Parking as others and as a busy multi-bag day I didn't manage to visit the Goatstones nearby. In quite a precarious location this one and rather splendid views! Spider is missing. Parked in Wark and included trig in circular walk. Trig now behind wire fence to keep people away from the edge of crags, however easy to cross. Great views, with the Whin Sill in the distance.

Parked in lay by at start of footpath, easy to spot the pillar up on the crags. Short, easy walk, good views in better weather over to Steel Rigg. Interesting Bronze Age stone circle known as Goatstones. Took the dog for a walk in the woods afterwards, and nice visit to Simonburn on way home

Roadside parking to NE near start of track to Catless (NY 8360 7509). Took a 7km circular dog-walking route over the common taking in the trig near end of the walk. Pillar has no centre cap and tube is unplugged; rear sight hole open. Extensive panoramic views.

Parked at roadside near Manor house at start of track. Walked track south towards the Stone circle turning east at junction of tracks then finally north to the trig point on a rough path. Very windy today with low cloud and light rain.

My second visit, only slightly different route - just took the crags head on and went straight up them, rather than following the track around them! Tremendous views today, much brighter and clearer than my previous visit. It's a dramatic view North - as good as any Northumbrian Trig Point south of Simonside. One of the 'must-do' TPs in the county!

Quck scramble up the crags to the pillar. met farmer on way down who told us about the stone circle and the beaker people who used to populate the area. He had a 20 or so sacks of coal to transport down the track to his house.

Parked at the roadside and had a short walk up to this great viewpoint. Superb crags and a stone circle nearby. I liked this spot, with it's wide ranging views an atmosphere. Spotted some nesting falcons nearby on cliffs. Easy approach to trig from bridleway.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 10th November 1951 costing £9.14s.3d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NY86/T42 in 1953. Levelled for height also in 1953. Last maintained by the OS in July 1978. SITE VISIT: Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. FB faces north, ~5°. Vented through south sight hole. FB face proved difficult to photograph, one step backwards and you fall over the cliff.
