Wide roadside verge, easy parking. Took a little while to locate due to me interpreting the measurements incorrectly. I had assumed "6m from metal gate post" meant 6m along the fence then 4m out, but no. It's 4m out from the fence, and 6m on a diagonal from the gate post. Precise measurements are 4.25m and 6.45m. Grass dead and longish, a damp evening. Carole Engel sitting in the car bored!

These ones can be tricky to spot and the grass was quite tall so gave up the search quite quickly as it felt a bit like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. Will return sometime better equipped and when the vegetation isn't so overgrown and hopefully will get this one found.

Brought along a metal detector and my new 50cm screwdrivers. Didn't need the detector. It was the second spot I probed. Lots of stones making you think you have hit it but when you do hit it, it is a completely different feeling to a stone. Left it uncovered for the next hunter.

I tried to find this one on three previous occasions over the last year. Failed. However, armed with determination, CJ and the OS and previous photographs, I wanted to give it another go. Carefull probing with tent pegs tied on to garden canes eventually proved sucessful. However, there is a lot of false stones and lumps of concrete on the site. Beware.

My first outing in ages. New babies can be very time consuming! This was a sod to find as the grass was almost waist high in places. Fortunately my WAP phone and iainmac's downloaded photos eventually helped pinpoint its whereabouts. Much grass-clearing and excavation later, the Bernsten appeared!

The Bernsten All cleared and cleaned.
Pole marks the spot A handy picture for would-be triggers to use as a reference in addition to iainmac's.
The grass before clearing Not easy to find something buried 2" under the surface of this lot!
